Procedure for selected incoming Students

Before leaving home

  1. When a student is selected, his/her home institution communicates data for first registration to Université de Rennes 1.
  2. Then the International Affairs Office contacts the student and gives him/her instruction to complete registration and necessary documentation for visa.
    1. American students must apply for their visa online, as part of the process of applying for admission to an institution of higher education: Following the received instructions, the student asks the visa.

  1. The student writes out a Learning Agreement according to the guide lines prepared by his home university and choosing the courses within the list approved by the Université de Rennes 1.

  2. The student has to look for accommodation. Contact: sai-beaulieu@univ-rennes1.fr
    1. The international affairs office can book a room in a hall of residence for student (145 euros/month for an ordinary room ; 225 euros/month for a room with individual bathroom). Application form for accommodation
    2. The student can also look for a flat (by his own) in the private sector.

Once arrived in Rennes

  1. The student can be welcomed by a mentor at his/her arrival. Request to be welcomed by a mentor
  2. The student has to go to the International Affairs Office (Campus de Beaulieu) where he/she will get his/her enrolment number.
  3. The student who needs French proficiency course can contact : sai-beaulieu@univ-rennes1 (before his/her arrival). 40 hours of French for foreigners are offered by the University of Rennes 1 (4 hours per week). Free French proficiency course
  4. The student attends courses, takes the exams and gets evaluated; if necessary, the student can ask the Home University for changing the learning agreement.

Before leaving Rennes

  1. The student has to go to the International Affairs Office (Sandra Jabet) to get the certificate with passed exams and their evaluation.
